I bought this machine based on the reviews I had read and was influenced by the price, which seemed reasonable compared with other sanders in this class. I have a couple of other triton tools and was initially impressed by the apparent build quality. Having used the machine now for two years I can give a solid review. The base plate wore thin in no time and Triton were unable to supply a replacement. I made my own as I was fortunate enough to have the metal and a sheet metal bender in my workshop, I just bought the cork the make the backing for it. Next problem was the dust bag, initially it seemed to work reasonably well but it was actually quite thin material and I soon found myself patching holes in it before I gave up and used the old one as a pattern and ran up a new bag on my wife's sewing machine from an old tea towel, using the zip and collar from the original bag. Working on a floor project yesterday and smoke started pouring from the machine. I opened it up only to find that the bearings had started to disintegrate and they had damaged the motor armature. Can you buy spares, the short answer is no, not for the bits you need!! I have given up with Triton, I was prepared to give them a fair chance but I am going back to the marks I trust, DeWalt, Makita, Bosch and METABO. My recommendation, if you want a tool you can rely on on, go to a reliable manufacturer. They may be dearer but you do get what you pay for. I have only given one star as it worked initially but in all honesty I would give it zero if the review system would allow me to post this review with zero stars, which it won't.
