Just finished setting up the new CS002 Contractor saw module (December 2022). First impressions, this was a quality saw.
Upon further inspection I found serious flaws in its design.
Firstly the four orange side clamps provided with the TWX7 work station become redundant, they get in the way of the new contractor saw side rails! The two replacement side rail clamps are not fit for purpose and DO NOT clamp adequately; the side rails still move (it needs four clamps).
There is also a fundamental design issue with the new rip fence. For whatever reason Triton have changed the sliding rip fence arrangement used on the previous model, the CS001. The new CS002 model now has a separate rip fence in addition to the sliding side rails. The new fence in independent of the side rails. It's a substantial fence but pretty useless! Whilst one end of the fence has an excellent clamping arrangement, unfortunately the other end has no clamp at all and just has a small roller bearing which sits on top of the aluminium side rail. The rip fence is more than one metre in length and the deflection (with little effort) at the unclamped end is more the 5mm!
Trying to cut a reasonably sized piece of timber with any accuracy would be difficult if not impossible.
An opportunity missed! This saw had the makings of being a quality item for the DIY community. The saw is selling for a not insubstantial 400+ in the UK and you would have thought a second fence clamp could have been included, rather than a silly little roller bearing at one end of the fence!
Until these very basic but fundamental issues are resolve I would recommend prospective buyers look elsewhere!
If the issues are resolved I would be giving the saw a rating of 4 out of 5!
